About these worksheets

These sheets use dinosaurs to practice ordinary school skills. Tracing pages build letter formation for preschool and kindergarten. Word scrambles are spelling practice. The matching sheets teach real science vocabulary: dinosaur names are built from Greek and Latin words, so Triceratops really does mean "three-horned face". The two report pages give children a simple structure for their first piece of research, from a drawing and a few sentences up to a one-page fact file with sources.

Tips for parents & teachers

  • Pair a matching sheet with a library book so children can check their own answers.
  • The report template works with any dinosaur. Let each child pick a different one and share what they found.
  • For tracing, start at the dot at the top of each letter and say the word out loud when it is finished.
  • Break long names into claps: Par-a-saur-ol-o-phus has six!
