About these worksheets
These riddles are careful reading in disguise: a child has to read every clue, because the wrong pictures are chosen so that only one dinosaur fits. Younger kids get two "what I look like" clues and three pictures. Older kids get a true fact first, and the top level gives the meaning of the dinosaur's name and asks them to write it. Watch out for Pteranodon and Plesiosaurus: their clues say they were NOT dinosaurs.
All worksheets are free for home and classroom use, print on one Letter or A4 page and come with an answer key. Every set is generated from the same word and number banks as our games, so "Make a new one" gives you unlimited practice.
Tips for parents & teachers
- Read one clue, then cross out every picture it rules out. Then read the next one.
- Point out the name meanings: "-saurus" means lizard, "tri-" means three, "cera" means horn.
- After the sheet, play Which Dinosaur Am I? online: a miss there shows the next clue.
